Jason West began his career in higher education within the health and human performance department at the University of Central Missouri as a teaching graduate assistant. For 4 semesters he instructed undergraduate courses during the day and attended graduate courses at night. As a part of his coursework he was able to engage in a thesis research project, assessing the shoulder strength differences between male baseball players and female softball players. West took his first official faculty position as a member of the health, recreation, and kinesiology department at Longwood University. This position offered him the opportunity to instruct majors and non-majors of the kinesiology program and collect data from their health/fitness assessments to compare results. Over the past 2 years he has functioned as an adjunct professor at TU in exercise physiology during summer semester. Just prior to accepting his current position he was working to establish a health/fitness program at Community Care College, which is a for-profit post secondary educational entity in Tulsa.
