O’Brien is a documentary artist, filmmaker, and Assistant Professor of Film Studies and Media Studies at the University of Tulsa. Her work includes a variety independent documentaries, experimental films, audiovisual installations, archival research, photographic processes, and photobooks. Her moving image, multimedia, and photographic works have exhibited in galleries, film festivals, and museums worldwide at venues such as the Slamdance Film Festival, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Photowerk Berlin, Cassilhaus, the 25th Film Festival of Madrid, Flash Forward, the Antimatter Media Arts Festival, MiradasDoc, the Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability, and DOCNYC. She holds an M.F.A. in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University.
